If you are in North Central Area of Pennsylvania checkin out any of the sights take an hour and visit "High Knob" it's a pretty good view not far from Hillsgrove PA. At 2,000 ft it gets you up above the surrounding hills allowing you to see for miles.

You can easily drive up here and take it in as it's about 2 miles off the main road of route 87. Just take Dry run road then follow the well placed signs to the vista. It would be a really good Mt bike ride as well if you park at the ranger station where 87 and dry run road meet. If you are really wanting to "earn" the view hike the loyalsock trail up. I would go with "NOT a gentle slope" so be sure you're ready for this 400+ ft leg of the trip. You can check out the map at the top of this topic if you ever want the map or a detailed look at the topography of the area. The Blue line on the map is the loyalsock trail and the marker is the actual Vista. |

Here's a hackers attempt at a landscape view of the South View. Not a very good job of matching up the 4 parts but perhaps it'll give you an idea or inspire you just enough to stop in there if ever in the area. Interesting part about this location is that the shape of the top is about like a race track in size and shape so as you drive around it you get some good views through the trees to the West and North as well. I imagine in the Fall this is the place.
